Billund - home of LEGOLAND

Billund is situated in the southern central part of Jutland – the main peninsula of Denmark. Billund is a village of no more than 6,100 inhabitants, however very well known in Denmark as the birthplace of the famous LEGO bricks. Even today LEGO is being produced here. Every day during summer you can visit the world famous LEGOLAND park with lots of fun for both children and adults.
Billund has a number of hotels in all categories, and the international airport of Billund is situated in the outskirts of the village.

A 16 feet tall boy

At ARoS Kunstmuseum - Museum of Art – you can meet a fascinating boy. A sculpture that is 16 feet (5 metres) tall and weighs 500 kilograms!
The Australian artist Ron Muecks sculpture, that seem so alive, has become a symbol for the ARoS Kunstmuseum in Aarhus.

The best of Danish design

Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner and Verner Panton are all Danish designers that have made a name for themselves all over the world.
At the Trapholt Art Museum in Kolding you can see a large collection of furniture, designed by these, and other great, Danish architects and designers down through time.

The birth certificate of Denmark

Jelling has a very significant meaning in the Danish history. This was where Denmark was named, where the danes changed from Nordic paganism to Christianity and where the royal dynasty was founded by King Gorm the Old a 1000 years ago.
In Jelling 2 rune stones have been erected by Harald Bluetooth and Gorm the Old. The largest of these is considered to be the birth certificate of Denmark.

A fairytale come true

Do you know the fairytales The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid, The Emperor's New Clothes and The Princess and the Pea? They are all written by the famous danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, who was born in the poorest part of Odense in 1805.
The Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense tells the story of this author, who grew up with the belief that he, though poor, was special – that he, like the Ugly Duckling, was hatched from a swan's egg.

An 2000 year old man

The Grauballe Man - a 2000 year old man corpse - is one of the most spectacular Danish finds from prehistory. It is the best preserved bog body from Iron Age Europe. You can observe all details, for instance: features, hair, stubble, nails, and skin structure.
